What JPG to PNG changes, and what it cannot
JPG to PNG packs the same picture into a lossless file. It does not invent the detail JPEG already discarded. If the photo looks blocky as a JPG, it will look blocky as a PNG, only inside a larger file. The reason to convert is the next program: an editor, a printer, or a form that refuses JPEG.
Once the picture is PNG, later saves do not add another round of JPEG damage. That matters when you will crop or export more than once. It does not matter when you only needed a smaller photo for the web. For that, stay with JPG or use WEBP.
How to run it
Open /jpg-to-png, drop the JPEG, and download the PNG. The address also accepts .jpeg, which is the same format and is sent to the JPG tools. The upload is deleted after the download. The limit is 150 MB.
